eBay plans to cut about 1,000 to 1,100 jobs

eBay, the US-based online marketplace headquartered in San Jose, California, plans to cut about 9% of its workforce.

Reports put the total at between 1,000 and 1,100 jobs.

The company says it wants to align staffing with its strategic priorities and direct resources towards areas with stronger growth.

This follows 800 job cuts in February, making it the second round of reductions this year.

eBay has focused on luxury goods, collectibles and refurbished products, and acquired secondhand clothing platform Depop for about $1.2 billion.

The company has not given details on when the cuts will happen.
