Britain limits Saudi air missions to defending cities and infrastructure
The UK says RAF aircraft in Saudi Arabia will defend cities and critical infrastructure.
The commitment was set out by Defence Secretary Wes Streeting in a statement on 20 October 2026 and restated in a parliamentary answer.
British Typhoon fighters will fly defensive air missions, and the UK says they will not conduct offensive strikes.
Other support includes moving defence equipment within Saudi Arabia, advising Saudi military staff and extending air-to-air refuelling for Saudi defensive operations.
That refuelling support also covers operations against Houthi military sites in Yemen.
The Houthis have repeatedly attacked Saudi territory since 2015 and resumed strikes after a period of relative quiet.
The UK has not specified how long the engagement will last in the parliamentary answer.
Britain has committed Royal Air Force aircraft to defensive missions protecting Saudi cities and critical national infrastructure.

The package also includes an A400M transport for moving defence materiel within Saudi Arabia and military advisers to support Saudi staff officers.
