Bernardo Rogora has died aged 88, Fiorentina and Italian football sources said on 4 November.

The right-back was born in Solbiate Olona, in northern Italy, and played for Fiorentina for five seasons.

He was a key defender in Fiorentina’s 1969 league title, the club’s second and, according to the report, most recent Italian championship.

Rogora made 173 appearances and scored five goals for the club.

He also won the 1966 Coppa Italia and Mitropa Cup with Fiorentina.

Former teammate Giancarlo De Sisti remembered him as a serious, reserved person who defended tenaciously on the pitch.
