Americans aged 75 and older became the wealthiest age group, Fed finds

The Federal Reserve found that Americans aged 75 and older had the highest median wealth in 2025.

Their wealth rose as younger families’ wealth fell, while stock market gains helped the richest families grow richer.

At the same time, more families said they were late on loan payments or used a large share of their income to pay debts.

This shows that rising wealth did not ease financial pressure for many households.
