Former Swiss sportscaster Hans Jucker was convicted in 1971
Hans Jucker was convicted in 1971 of sexual acts involving young people and received an eight-month suspended prison sentence.
He was a well-known Swiss sportscaster who commentated on events including the Olympics and skiing world championships for SRF, Switzerland’s public broadcaster.
Jucker died in 2011, but the conviction has drawn attention after it was reported in connection with a book by one of the victims.
Former politician Toni Bortoluzzi says the conviction was widely known, including in Jucker’s home town of Affoltern am Albis, where they were friends and served together on the local council.
SRF says it learned of the conviction only a few weeks ago, leaving its account at odds with Bortoluzzi’s claim that the case was widely known.
The broadcaster says it will arrange an external review of its past handling of the case.
SRF will remove clips centred on Jucker, while archive contributions will remain available.

The conviction was reported publicly in 2026, prompting SRF to review how it handled the case.

A former friend, Toni Bortoluzzi, said the conviction had long been widely known in Jucker’s community and beyond.
