Woman says in-laws resold her parents’ holiday gifts at half price
A woman in South Korea said her parents had chosen holiday gifts with her in-laws’ tastes in mind and sent them to the family.
She found some of the gifts listed for sale on Karrot, a secondhand marketplace, while searching for an item.
She and her husband identified the seller’s account as belonging to his older brother and sister-in-law, and one gift had already sold for about half its original price.
She said other gifts were listed too, including a product her mother had bought overseas because her mother-in-law wanted it.
The woman said reselling the gifts felt different from sharing them, and her mother-in-law apologized, saying she had not known the couple was selling them.
The mother-in-law said she would speak to the couple, but no further outcome was reported.
