ASX copper companies advance projects in Australia and Québec

Copper is used in power grids, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and data centres, and demand is expected to grow.

Three ASX-listed companies advanced copper projects in Australia and Québec during the September quarter.

CuFe is studying its Tennant Creek copper-gold-bismuth project in the Northern Territory, where two deposits have a combined resource of 23.5 million tonnes.

CuFe agreed to acquire the remaining 45% of the project, but the deal still needs due diligence, shareholder approval and other conditions to be met.

GreenTech Metals drilled at its Whundo project in Western Australia, where a result extended the known mineralised area beyond the existing resource.

GreenTech expects more drilling results and an updated resource in December, while Pivotal Metals released an initial scoping study for its Horden Lake copper project in Québec.

These studies and drilling results help companies assess the size and development potential of deposits, but the projects are still at study and exploration stages.
