Patrick Stewart drank champagne from Daniel Ricciardo’s boot at the 2017 Canadian Grand Prix

Actor Patrick Stewart joined Daniel Ricciardo’s podium celebration at the 2017 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

Ricciardo, an Australian driver for Red Bull, finished third, while Lewis Hamilton won and Valtteri Bottas finished alongside him.

Ricciardo had made drinking champagne from his racing boot, known as a shoey, a signature celebration.

He handed the boot to Stewart, who drank from it to cheers from the crowd.

Stewart’s response that he would drink from anybody’s shoe helped make the moment widely shared online.

Stewart, known for Star Trek and X-Men, has died aged 86 at his home in Los Angeles.

Ricciardo left Formula 1 in 2024, and the 2017 celebration remains a memorable moment for fans of the sport.
