First-time workers may get up to ₹15,000 under PM-VBRY

The government’s PM-VBRY scheme offers eligible first-time EPF members up to ₹15,000 to encourage formal employment in India.

It is for workers joining eligible jobs who were not contributing members of the Employees’ Provident Fund before the scheme’s start.

Workers with monthly wages of up to ₹1 lakh may qualify, but meeting the salary limit alone is not enough.

The incentive is paid in two instalments and is based on eligible wages, so some workers may receive less than the maximum.

The first instalment is available after six months of continuous service, while the second requires 12 months of service and a financial literacy course through the EPFO member portal.

Part of the second payment is placed in a savings instrument or deposit account rather than being immediately available as cash.

The sources give different final dates for eligible job start dates: 7 July or 31 July 2027, so workers should check current scheme guidance.
