Jerry Jones says Cowboys are not considering a coaching change
The Dallas Cowboys lost 33-30 to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime after leading by 14 points in the fourth quarter.
The game was played in Arlington, Texas, and left Dallas with a 3-5 record.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he is not considering a coaching change for head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Jones said the team as a whole had let Schottenheimer down, rather than blaming one person.
The loss matched the largest fourth-quarter lead the Cowboys have blown in team history, and made them the first NFL team this season to lose after leading by at least 14 points in the fourth quarter.
Dallas has struggled to turn its leads into wins, while defensive problems have drawn particular criticism.
Schottenheimer said he believes in the staff and players and plans to focus on work and solving problems.
Jerry Jones said the Dallas Cowboys are not considering an in-season coaching change after their 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Dallas led by 14 points in the fourth quarter before losing at home on Sunday.
Jones said responsibility for the loss rests across the organization, not only with head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
The Cowboys are 3-5, and Schottenheimer’s record as their coach is 10-14-1.
Jones said he had made one midseason coaching change before, firing Wade Phillips in 2010, but did not see that happening now.
