Leclerc recalls Bauges cheese over E. coli contamination

Leclerc has recalled a batch of Bauges cheese sold across France after E. coli bacteria were detected.

The product is AOP tome des Bauges, sold from the deli counter under the Nos régions ont du talent brand.

The recall covers lot C62180189, with a best-before date of 20 October 2026, sold between 12 August and 14 October.

Customers should not eat cheese matching those details, even if it is still in their refrigerator.

E. coli STEC can cause diarrhoea, stomach pain and vomiting, sometimes with fever; severe kidney complications can occur, mainly in children.

Anyone who has eaten the cheese and develops symptoms should contact a doctor and explain what they ate and when.

The cheese can be returned to Leclerc for a refund; if no symptoms appear within 15 days of eating it, official guidance says there is no need to worry or consult a doctor.
