Arsenal to play at Fleetwood’s Highbury Stadium in Carabao Cup

Arsenal are set to play Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium in a Carabao Cup clash.

The match is in Fleetwood, in northwest England, and not at Arsenal’s former Highbury ground in London.

Arsenal played at the London stadium from 1913 until it closed in 2006, and the site is now a housing complex.

Fleetwood’s ground opened in 1939 and holds a little over 5,300 people, far fewer than the Emirates Stadium, which can hold almost 61,000.

Fleetwood are in League Two, England’s fourth tier, and have reached the Carabao Cup’s fourth round for the first time.

The clubs have never played each other, so the cup tie is a first meeting between them.

My voice has gone! The whole team was magnificent, every one of them. We took heart from Grimsby beating Manchester United last season, it felt comparable. It means so much to the whole town.
