Dalit and Adivasi women describe 35 atrocity cases at Hyderabad clinic

Victims and witnesses in 35 cases described their experiences at a legal clinic in Hyderabad.

The cases involved atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi women and girls, including murder, rape and cheating on the pretext of love.

Dalit Sthree Sakthi organised the clinic, where government officials and civil society representatives heard grievances and pledged support.

The Director of Public Prosecutions said special courts would be established in every district and offered help prosecuting the cases.

Officials also discussed financial assistance, including support to secure bank loans through government programmes.

The government has sanctioned ₹40 crore in compensation, with another ₹31 crore in the process of being sanctioned.

Officials said victims should receive rehabilitation, but stressed that financial aid alone is not enough and that justice must be secured in each case.
