Danone EMEA chief says innovation will drive growth as prices rise
Danone EMEA chief Pablo Perversi said the company will keep focusing on innovation at a consumer goods industry meeting in Spain.
He said Danone’s growth strategy is based on finding consumer needs that are not being met and bringing products to more people.
Perversi pointed to Alpro, Danacol and Activia as brands that have attracted new consumers in Spain.
He said Danone has changed half of its products on store shelves through innovation and entered new categories, helping it move from falling to rising sales volumes.
Danone has raised prices this year and plans to try again next year as it faces higher costs, while continuing to offer some yogurts for one euro.
Perversi also criticized supermarket own-label products, saying they copy rather than create market trends.
Danone has changed more than 1,000 distribution routes in the Middle East because of geopolitical instability, and said it is working with the French government to maintain consumer access to products.
Danone plans to raise prices again in 2027 after increasing them this year, EMEA president Pablo Perversi said.
He cited rising costs and inflation as reasons for the increases.
Perversi said Danone would use innovation and product changes to support growth and keep products accessible.
He criticized private-label brands, saying they copy rather than create trends or markets.
Danone has renewed half of its products on store shelves and says it has moved from losing volume to gaining it.
