Bioport launches its first frozen ready meal at Costco Korea
Bioport has launched its first frozen ready meal, a Mexican chicken quesadilla, through Costco Korea.
The South Korean K-food company says the product combines chicken breast, mozzarella and Mexican seasoning in a tortilla.
Ready meals are prepared for convenient cooking, and the quesadilla can be heated in an air fryer for about eight to 10 minutes.
The launch expands Bioport beyond Korean soups and stews, which it had already supplied to Costco in shelf-stable and refrigerated forms.
Frozen products are easier to store and transport over long distances than refrigerated ones.
Bioport plans to pursue overseas sales through Costco’s international network, including in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The company says it will continue expanding its frozen ready-meal range, but the quesadilla’s response from Costco customers remains to be seen.
