Heavy rain erodes beaches and damages facilities in Anapa
Heavy overnight rain hit Anapa, a resort on Russia’s Black Sea coast, on October 16.
The downpour turned roads into streams and eroded parts of the Central Beach, including a lounge area.
The nearby Therapeutic Beach was also affected, with wide channels cut into recently delivered sand.
Anapa’s mayor, Svetlana Maslova, said municipal crews worked through the night clearing leaves from drainage channels and continued work in the morning.
More rain is forecast, so city services are monitoring local infrastructure and working at increased capacity.
A local blogger said repairs may require bringing in sand again, but raised questions about where it will come from and how the work will be done.
