Nizhny Novgorod beat Arsenal 4-0 for seventh straight league win

Nizhny Novgorod beat Tula’s Arsenal 4-0 in the 16th round of Russia’s First League on Friday.

The home team scored twice in the opening 23 minutes, then added goals from Vladislav Sarveli and Vladimir Ignatenko in the second half.

The win was Nizhny Novgorod’s seventh in a row in the league.

After 16 rounds, the club had 43 points, 11 points clear of second-place Sochi, which had a match in hand.

Nizhny Novgorod was relegated from Russia’s top division last season, and the top two teams earn direct promotion to the Premier League.

The club’s next league match is away to Kostroma’s Spartak on November 8.
