Sollers S9 set to challenge the UAZ Patriot in Russia
Sollers has started series production of its S9 SUV at a plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia.
A factory photo showed the S9 beside the UAZ Patriot, a long-established Russian off-road vehicle.
The S9 is based on the Sollers ST9 pickup, which is a licensed version of China's JAC T9.
The S9 is larger than the Patriot and will be offered with petrol or diesel engines paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Sollers says the vehicle is being built with locally made parts, including stamped body panels.
Dealer deliveries are planned from December, with sales expected to begin by the end of 2026.
The S9 could give buyers a new alternative in a market where the Patriot has long held a place as an affordable frame-based SUV, but its price and level of local production remain key questions.
