Former Guangxi agricultural academy head expelled from Communist Party

Deng Guofu, former head of Guangxi’s agricultural sciences academy, was expelled from the Communist Party after an investigation into serious misconduct.

The Guangxi regional discipline inspection commission said he accepted meals and gifts that could affect his official duties and let relatives benefit from his position.

Investigators said he used his office to help others win construction projects and received large sums of money illegally.

The commission said his conduct violated party rules and constituted serious official misconduct, with suspected bribery crimes.

His party membership and official benefits have been revoked, and the proceeds are to be confiscated.

The suspected crimes and related property have been sent to prosecutors for review and possible prosecution.
