Woman arrested in Cangas over alleged bank fraud exceeding €47,280

The Civil Guard arrested a 29-year-old woman in Cangas, Spain, over suspected thefts and ongoing bank fraud.

Investigators say she stole wallets and mobile phones, then used information and bank cards she found to access victims’ online banking.

The investigation began in January after three similar thefts were reported around the days of Cangas’s outdoor market.

Investigators say money was taken through purchases, transfers, cash withdrawals and Bizum payments, and that fraudulent personal loans were also sought.

The three cases have caused losses exceeding €47,280, according to the investigation so far.

The woman was reportedly caught trying to steal a bag from a café before fleeing in a car; police stopped the vehicle and later arrested her.

She was released with charges, and the case has been sent to a court in Cangas.
