Turkey’s interior minister reviews redevelopment plans for Ankara’s Ulus district

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi inspected redevelopment plans in Ankara’s Ulus district and around Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque.

The work covers Ulus, Çankırı Avenue and İsmetpaşa neighbourhood.

Officials reviewed plans to remove buildings linked to activities that violate regulations and threaten public safety.

The aim is to improve safety while protecting the area’s historic character, including nearby heritage sites.

Plans also include a modern police facility and a Vilayetler House, which provides accommodation for provincial officials.

Çiftçi said the police facility could help support public order and a safer atmosphere in Ulus.

The redevelopment is being carried out with cooperation among government, police and municipal bodies, but no timetable was given.
