Bardella denies claim that Facebook account data was deleted after Mediapart revelations
Jordan Bardella, leader of France’s National Rally party, denies claims that data from one of his old Facebook accounts was deleted.
Le Canard enchaîné says the data was erased between September 28 and October 2, after Mediapart published allegations about antisemitic posts attributed to Bardella.
Bardella denies writing the posts and has already filed a defamation complaint against Mediapart.
The Facebook account in the new claim is not the account linked to the alleged 2013 messages.
Bardella’s team called the deletion claim false, and he said on X that he would file another defamation complaint.
Separately, Libération says a Facebook account linked to one of Bardella’s personal email addresses still exists.
The competing claims leave disputed questions about the accounts and their data unresolved.
