Suspected CJNG regional leader arrested in Puebla
Mexican federal security forces arrested René Cadeza Villegas in Puebla on November 5.
Known as “El Cadeza” or “La Rana,” he is suspected of leading a local CJNG group in Loma Bonita and Tuxtepec, Oaxaca.
He was wanted on an aggravated kidnapping charge involving a victim identified by the initials E.M.A.D. Oaxaca prosecutors say he had operated in the region since 2022 and was part of a CJNG faction called “Empresa de la Cuenca.”
Authorities also accuse him of links to extortion, drug trafficking and other crimes, including possible involvement in killings and disappearances.
These are allegations, and the arrest does not establish guilt.
He was placed in the custody of Oaxaca prosecutors and was being transferred to their office.
