DiDi links ride-safety tools with emergency services in Mexico
DiDi is combining AI tools and human monitoring to check rides and respond to possible safety problems in Mexico.
The system includes round-the-clock monitoring and a direct link to Mexico City’s 911 service, while connections to local security systems cover 19 states.
Most rides are checked with a four-digit PIN, which confirms that passengers board the correct vehicle.
DiDi says its software looks for unusual patterns, route changes, sudden braking and suspicious stops.
Out of 3 billion rides, 17,000 used live support, and the company says 7% of those were assessed as possible incidents.
It says police assistance was activated in 3% of the live-support cases.
The new link lets authorities view trip details when DiDi’s safety team detects an anomaly or the feature is activated, so they can decide what response is needed.
