Bayern beat Freiburg 3-1 with Kompany absent

Bayern beat Freiburg 3-1 away in a Bundesliga match between the league leaders and the team in third place.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks led Bayern because head coach Vincent Kompany was in hospital after collapsing at training; Danks said Kompany was stable and improving.

Dayot Upamecano and Serge Gnabry scored before half-time, with Gnabry reaching 100 Bundesliga goals.

Freiburg pulled one back through a Bayern own goal in the 82nd minute and pushed for an equaliser, but Bayern held on.

Michael Olise scored in stoppage time after a mistake by Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.

The win kept Bayern top, while Freiburg remained third after a third consecutive defeat in all competitions.

Bayern next face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
