Guterres warns two-state solution is at risk
UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned the two-state solution is at risk of being “flattened”.
The two-state solution refers to the goal of Israel and a Palestinian state existing side by side.
The warning comes amid a wider conflict in the Middle East, with other regional issues also in focus.
Iran said talks in Tehran with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey had gone “very well”.
Those countries agreed to reject foreign interference in the region, according to Iran.
Israel votes on Tuesday, in a parliamentary election that could determine Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future.
Polls show his Likud party weakened, so forming a coalition is likely to be decisive.
