BTS becomes first group to reach 10 billion Spotify streams in a year

BTS has surpassed 10 billion Spotify streams this year, setting a record for a group.

The South Korean group is the first group worldwide to reach that total in a single year.

Solo artists including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Bad Bunny had reached the mark before.

BTS's streams more than doubled from 4.5 billion last year, helped by its fifth studio album, “Arirang,” released in March.

The album has passed 5 billion Spotify streams and is the platform's most-streamed album released this year.

It was BTS's first full-group project in nearly four years, following the members' completion of mandatory military service and reunion.

The figures underline the scale of the group's audience on streaming, while “Arirang” also reached the top of the US Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks.
