Bernard-Henri Lévy says he will back a candidate who blocks Le Pen and Mélenchon
Bernard-Henri Lévy says he will back a candidate who blocks Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon in France’s 2027 presidential election.
He said he would never vote for either politician and would support whoever could keep both from winning.
He named several possible candidates but chose no favorite: Raphaël Glucksmann and François Hollande on the left, and Édouard Philippe, Gabriel Attal and David Lisnard on the right.
Lévy also praised President Emmanuel Macron for blocking Le Pen twice and said he had kept his course despite losing his parliamentary majority.
Lévy said allegations against Jordan Bardella should disqualify him from political leadership; Bardella has denied the accusations, which concern messages allegedly written from 2013 to 2015.
Lévy said the fight against antisemitism requires either a courageous social democrat or a principled conservative, but did not identify a preferred candidate.
