GS Construction introduces robotics-powered movable walls for apartments

GS Construction is introducing movable walls in apartments it builds in South Korea.

Until now, buyers generally chose from fixed layout options before moving in, and changing a home’s structure later was difficult.

The new system lets residents move walls to reshape their living space for different needs.

They can create a separate area for work or study, then open it up for a larger living or dining space.

Developed with robotics furniture company ROVOTHOME, the walls move without floor rails and include obstacle and collision detection.

Residents can control the walls and home settings through an app, including lighting and security features.

GS Construction plans to connect the system with an AI home system it is developing with LG Electronics, with voice control and possible automatic layout changes as future goals.
