Three Suspects Released After Shooting at Ubatuba Beach

Three men were arrested after a shootout at Praia Grande beach in Ubatuba, on the northern coast of São Paulo state, on Monday.

The court granted them provisional release under precautionary measures the next day, but did not say what conditions they must follow.

Police say an 18-year-old was indicted on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly shooting at a 21-year-old man.

The 21-year-old was at the beach with a 25-year-old, and police say both men were also believed to be armed.

No one was injured, but the crowded beach scene caused panic among swimmers and street vendors.

Police seized two .38-calibre revolvers and 13 rounds of ammunition, including one revolver with its serial number removed.

Civil police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
