3C and Datalec merge to create data centre services company
3C and UK-based Datalec have merged to form a data centre services company called 3C Datalec.
Steve Walton, a former CEO of Calgary-based CoolIT Systems, will lead the new company.
It combines liquid-cooling services with engineering capabilities, allowing it to design, build and operate data centre infrastructure.
Liquid cooling moves heat away from computer equipment using liquid rather than relying on air cooling systems.
The company plans facilities in Calgary, Austin and Warsaw and says it intends to hire 200 engineers over the next 12 months.
It also forecasts annual revenue of $400 million and says it has projects in 16 countries.
The merger aims to bring data centre services together, as demand for computing continues to grow.
