Taean Recorded 844,739 Staying Visitors in May

Taean Recorded 844,739 Staying Visitors in May

South Korea’s Taean County recorded 844,739 staying visitors in May, the highest monthly total since the government began tracking the measure in 2024.

A staying visitor is someone who spends at least three hours in the county on at least one day during a month.

The total was 13.8 times Taean’s registered population of 61,340.

Taean ranked second for staying visitors among South Korea’s 89 areas designated as facing population decline.

The county linked the high number to a spring horticulture and healing expo, along with attractions such as coastal scenery, fishing, surfing and camping.

Taean also offers visitors discounts through a digital tourism card, and the county plans to expand marine tourism to encourage longer stays and repeat visits.
