Busan film festival draws more than 200,000 admissions
The Busan International Film Festival drew more than 200,000 admissions during its 10-day run in Busan, South Korea.
Organizers said this was the first time admissions had passed that mark since 2015.
The festival also drew nearly 77,000 people to other cinema programs and events, and total attendance rose by about 40,000 from the previous year.
It screened 315 films, including 94 world premieres, giving audiences a broad range of new work.
This was the festival’s first edition with A-list accreditation from the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, alongside festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Venice.
That recognition, along with visits from filmmakers and actors from South Korea and abroad, highlights the festival’s role in international cinema.
The closing ceremony is set to announce the Busan Awards winners, and the top award can now qualify for Oscar submission in the Best International Feature Film category.
