Audi to publish third-quarter results amid falling deliveries
Audi is due to publish its third-quarter results on Friday, after its parent company, Volkswagen, reported heavy losses.
The figures come as the carmaker faces weak sales and profits, and a debate over chief executive Gernot Döllner’s appearance alongside US President Donald Trump at a campaign event.
Audi delivered 314,905 cars of its main brand in the quarter, almost one-fifth fewer than a year earlier.
Sales also fell in China and the United States, where tariffs are a particular concern because Audi has no factory of its own.
Trump announced a planned Audi factory in Georgia with 4,500 jobs, and Döllner thanked him at the event despite Audi rules restricting campaign appearances before elections.
Audi plans to invest $4 billion in the plant, which is intended to build 200,000 SUVs a year, including the Q7, Q8 and new Q9.
The company’s results are expected on Friday, while further job cuts remain under consideration.
