Rohit Sharma nears several records in India’s ODI series against New Zealand

India opener Rohit Sharma is approaching several career milestones in a five-match one-day international series against New Zealand, starting in Auckland.

He has scored 20,652 international runs and needs 348 more to reach 21,000.

Rohit is also 19 sixes short of becoming the first batter to hit 400 sixes in ODI cricket.

He needs 36 more international runs as an opener in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia to reach 5,000 in those countries.

A century in New Zealand would make him the fourth Indian batter to score ODI hundreds in all four of those countries.

The series comes as questions continue about Rohit's place and form ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.

His recent strong run against the West Indies gives him momentum, and the series offers a chance to add to his record and support India's World Cup preparations.
