Court settlement requires fixes to Busan North Port transit center

Court settlement requires fixes to Busan North Port transit center

Busan Port Authority and developer P.Q. Construction are in a legal dispute over the North Port complex transit center in Busan, South Korea.

The dispute began when a pedestrian deck linking Busan Station with a park in the North Port redevelopment area was built with a level difference of 3.3 metres.

A court settlement has now become final, after neither side objected to the court’s proposed terms within two weeks.

The developer must fix the level difference and stop construction until it receives a lawful building amendment permit; it must also pay development-delay damages and provide a demolition guarantee.

The developer must complete and obtain approval for the rooftop plaza by a set deadline, and the port authority can cancel the land sale contract if any condition is not met.

The authority says it will monitor compliance, while the settlement also requires the developer to state its position on calls to strengthen the center’s public transport role.
