Former finance worker accused of diverting nearly €109,000
A former finance worker at a community centre in Druten diverted nearly €109,000 over about 18 months, according to the account given by the business owner.
She handled administration for the centre and two organisations that used it.
The scheme involved false invoices that duplicated payments to suppliers, sending the matching amounts to an ING account.
The account was in the name of her son, and the community centre lost about €99,000.
The owner said the amounts were spread across ordinary expenses and raised by only a few percent, making the extra costs harder to notice.
The woman was dismissed, but the Public Prosecution Service will not bring criminal charges, saying a civil case is more suitable.
The organisations are trying to recover the money through the courts.
