Teachers interrupt Telemadrid show to protest over public education
Four teachers interrupted a live Telemadrid programme in Madrid on Tuesday to protest in support of public education.
The teachers, from IES Palomeras in Vallecas, wore green shirts with the slogan “Public school for everyone” and stepped onto the set from the audience.
They said they wanted their concerns heard on public television and to highlight their indefinite strike.
Presenter Christian Gálvez said he respected public education but rejected their method, saying the programme was not the right place for the protest.
He told the teachers they had misled him by appearing as audience members, then moved the show to an advert break.
The teachers said they had wanted to make their strike and demands visible and described the technical staff’s treatment of them positively.
The accounts differ on whether Gálvez later used an insulting phrase to the teachers; one account says he did, while the others do not mention it.
The sources give no further steps or response from the programme.

What people are saying
Thank you, guys, but the methods you used to do this don't seem right to me.
From now on, this is not your space, it is ours.
We came out to demand our right to be able to take part in public television, the television of everyone, and for our demands to be heard.
Christian Gálvez has literally ended up telling us, “You can go to hell, for all I care.
