Mexico City judge orders alleged Tláhuac cartel leader held over extortion case

A Mexico City judge ordered Feliciano “N,” known as El Dámaso, to face an aggravated extortion case over alleged demands for money from a tire seller in Tláhuac.

Authorities identify him as the alleged second-in-command of the Tláhuac Cartel.

The alleged demands began in July 2023, with payments ranging from 500 to 5,000 pesos in exchange for supposed protection.

Investigators say the seller was threatened and assaulted when he could not pay, and that the group later targeted his home.

A judge had already ordered El Dámaso held in pretrial detention in a separate case involving alleged drug dealing and bribery.

He remains in custody at Mexico City's Oriente prison while both cases proceed.

The extortion case is an allegation, and the sources give no date for a trial or final ruling.
