Yongin names road after scholar Yu Hyeong-won
Yongin has named a road after Yu Hyeong-won in Baegam-myeon, South Korea.
The road in Seokcheon-ri leads to Yu’s grave site, which has been a Gyeonggi Province monument since 1976.
Yu, who lived from 1622 to 1673, was a late Joseon scholar known for proposing reforms to address rural society and land issues.
His book, *Bangyesurok*, set out proposals on land, government, education and the civil service examination system.
The honorary name recognizes his reform ideas and legacy but does not replace the road’s legal name or change street addresses.
Yongin now has six honorary roads, named to mark local history, culture, international ties and sports.
Yongin has given the honorary road name Ban Gye Yu Hyeong-won Seonsaeng-gil to a rural road in Baegam-myeon.
The road runs to the tomb of Yu Hyeong-won, a scholar of the late Joseon period.
