Mexico to give 400,000 pesos to families who lost homes in Hidalgo

Mexico is providing aid to families hit by monsoon-trough flooding in Hidalgo.

The disaster affected 105,000 families across five states, including many in remote communities.

Families who lost their homes completely will receive 400,000 pesos each, on top of support already provided.

The state governor said 2,250 families in Hidalgo qualify for this housing support, worth more than 900 million pesos.

Recovery work includes rebuilding roads, bridges and water systems damaged by the flooding.

The national and state governments say they have committed more than 11 billion pesos to emergency aid and reconstruction.

Payments will come in three installments, with inspections starting in January to check how the money is used.
