Six dogs in Schiedam likely did not die from mushrooms or polluted soil

Six dogs died after walks in parks in Schiedam, a city in the Dutch province of South Holland.

Five had been walked in De Plantage park, and the sixth in Beatrixpark.

The dogs had the same symptoms, and the deaths have caused concern among local dog owners.

Initial findings indicate they probably did not die from eating poisonous mushrooms, and the soil was not contaminated.

Investigators are checking whether flower bulbs may have played a role, but there is no conclusion yet.

The Netherlands Forensic Institute is also carrying out forensic tests.

The municipality says it will share more when results are available, but it does not know when that will be.
