Saudi energy minister pledges continued investment despite global challenges

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman spoke at the opening of the 25th World Petroleum Conference in Riyadh.

He said Saudi Arabia would continue investing in energy and work toward the goals of Vision 2030 despite global challenges.

He described Riyadh as a center for energy security and said threats to energy infrastructure and supply chains make preparation important.

He pointed to the East-West oil pipeline as an alternative route for supplies if sea transport faces risks.

He said energy resilience also depends on skilled workers, local industries and supply chains, as well as infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia plans to invest in reliable energy, renewable power, electricity networks, storage, gas and new technologies, while working to reduce emissions.

The minister said the country would continue developing its energy system and industrial infrastructure and strengthening international partnerships.
