Retirees in Niort demand a 5.6% pension increase
About 50 retirees demonstrated in Niort in western France on 14 October.
The action was part of a national call by the CGT, FSU and Solidaires unions, while the Agirc-Arrco board was meeting to consider changes to private-sector pensions.
The demonstrators said retirees contribute to society through spending, family care and local activities.
They called for an immediate 5.6% pension increase, including catch-up payments and an increase for purchasing power.
Their representatives planned to hand over a motion at the Medef and Agirc-Arrco offices, but both offices were closed, so they put it in letter boxes.
The demand concerns pensions for retired private-sector workers.
The next demonstration announced by the group is in Paris on 19 November 2026.
