Dortmund’s Konstantinos Karetsas leaves injured against Union Berlin

Konstantinos Karetsas left injured during Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga match against Union Berlin in Berlin.

The 18-year-old Greek midfielder had come on as a substitute in the 62nd minute and was replaced by Mathis Albert in the 70th.

He hurt himself while trying to turn away from Union’s Rani Khedira and left the field with help from staff.

The injury adds to a difficult spell for Karetsas, who joined Dortmund from KRC Genk for €30 million in the summer.

He has been trying to regain his form since collapsing during a Champions League match against Villarreal in early September.

Before the match, coach Niko Kovac said that episode might still be on Karetsas’s mind and that the club should not expect too much from him.

Kovac said he believes Karetsas will find his way, but no further details about the latest injury or what happens next were given.
