Jan G. extradited to the Netherlands over cocaine-smuggling suspicion

Germany has transferred Jan G. to the Netherlands, where he is now in custody.

The 28-year-old is suspected of trying to import nearly 4,000 kilograms of cocaine, found in containers in Dunkirk, France, early last month.

Another suspect was arrested in Dordrecht on 4 September over the same alleged shipment.

G. was the target of a violent attack in Overasselt on 1 September, when a security guard at his home was killed and two police officers were shot.

One officer was critically injured, and 42 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.

G. is being held under restrictions, meaning he may contact only his lawyer.
