Switzerland ranks sixth in global digital finance infrastructure study
Switzerland ranked sixth among 15 financial centers in a new study of infrastructure for digital finance.
The Swiss Blockchain Federation produced the benchmark with support from Amina Bank and law firm MME, using 11 criteria.
It assesses how ready financial systems are for tokenisation, blockchain, distributed-ledger technology and digital assets.
The study says Switzerland has strong legal certainty and a specialist financial ecosystem, but its early lead is shrinking as other centers catch up.
It identifies slow regulatory implementation, limited market access and few practical AI-blockchain applications as key weaknesses.
Some firms face long waits for regulatory decisions, with rulings taking two or three years and some fintech licence applicants waiting three years.
The study recommends improvements in regulation, digital money, international connections and the use of AI with blockchain, but does not set out a timetable for action.
