Chelsea fear Lacroix could miss games until January with hamstring injury
Chelsea defender Maxence Lacroix suffered a serious hamstring injury during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool on penalties.
The 26-year-old was hurt while trying to block a shot at the end of the first half.
Chelsea fear he could be out until January, though manager Xabi Alonso said he would miss at least a few weeks and would not be ready before the international break.
Lacroix joined from Crystal Palace in the summer and has started all but one of Chelsea’s 11 matches this season.
His absence leaves Chelsea with fewer centre-back options, as Jorrel Hato and Aaron Anselmino are also injured.
Chelsea next host Manchester United, and Alonso has named Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong as possible replacements.
