De Goudse to pay €12.5 million in compensation to policyholders

Dutch insurer De Goudse will compensate customers with controversial investment-linked policies under a settlement over the policies.

The insurer has set aside about €12.5 million for the payments.

The agreement was reached in January 2025 with consumer groups and claims organisations, but it could proceed only if 90% of affected customers accepted their personal offers.

That threshold has now been reached, allowing payments to move ahead.

The claims administrator says completing them could take three to six months.

The number of policyholders sharing the money has not been disclosed.

Settlements have also been reached with several of the Netherlands’ largest insurers, while consumer groups are still pursuing compensation from smaller firms.
