Italian appeals court recognizes premeditation in Giulia Tramontano murder
A Milan appeals court recognized premeditation in Alessandro Impagnatiello’s murder of Giulia Tramontano.
Tramontano was killed in Senago, near Milan, on 27 May 2023, when she was seven months pregnant.
Impagnatiello was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, but an earlier appeals ruling had rejected the premeditation aggravating factor.
Italy’s highest court ordered a new appeal hearing to reconsider evidence, including that he had given Tramontano rat poison from December 2022 and searched online for lethal substances.
His defense said the poison was intended to end the pregnancy, not to kill her, but the judges accepted that the killing was premeditated.
The written reasons are due within 45 days, and the life sentence remains in place.

è stato bello vedere che i giudici che hanno emesso la sentenza siano due donne, perché questa è veramente una lotta di genere.
